Starka överjästa öl bryggs på många håll i världen. I Belgien finner vi väldigt komplexa starka öl men även på de Brittiska öarna går traditionen att brygga en värmande fyllig öl långt bakåt i tiden. Slottskällans Strong Ale är en öl i brittisk anda. Den fylliga söta smaken balanserar den höga alkoholen och ger ett komplext och fruktigt öl. Som all öl från Slottskällans Bryggeri är denna öl opastöriserad för att behålla alla smakerna.

Dark amber color; poor head. Simple aroma, some caramel. Malty body, a lot of caramel, oily, strong bitterness. A sweet Vienna, more than a Strong Ale (it doesn’t have any top fermentation fruitness), but fairly good hopping.

[At Stockholm Beer Festival 2005] A pale brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of celery and herbs. The flavor is sweet malty with notes primary notes of straw, but also som light notes of alcohol, nuts, and wood. Drinkable, but I had expected more from a Scotch Ale from Slottskällans.

Draught
Copper brown, not much head. Hoppy, barley in the nose. Sweetish, grassy hoppyness in a good balance. Medium-bodied. Good brew.

Draught. Dark reddish copper colour, small white head. Malty and hoppy nose. Sweet caramellish malty flavour with hints of spices in finish. Long hoppy and caramellish aftertaste.

Bottled:
Pours brownish copper with a mid sized head. Aroma has soap, peat and orange peels. Flavour is peat, smoke and oranges. Bitter finish.

Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival. Dark amber. Aroma of toffee and apple pie. Sweet and malty, decidedly peaty/smokey. Soft mouthfeel and near full body along with a batttery of malt flavours makes this a warming and very enjoyable beer.
