From bottle to a pilsner glass A: Pours a finger of frothy tight head. Dark gold color. Very clear. Good head retention and lacing. Lace pattern left all the way up the glass at the end. Inviting carbonation rising. S: Light smell of the hops with crisp bread at the back. T: Crisp bread/biscuit, hops seem almost an afterthought at first. I love the malt flavors. Grainy and pronounced crackers/crusty bread. Maybe hard for the hops to keep up but they do come through on the finish as slightly piny. Malty but fortunately not sweet although if left to warm, the malts will become overbearing. Drunk chilled, it’s well balanced. M: Silky, soapy. Nice tingly carbonation. O: I love this even if it is a bit far to the malty side. The low ABV is also quite a plus to me. I would drink these all the time if they weren’t so damned expensive.

On draft at Turners High Moon in Avon NC. Pours a clear gold with a thick white head. Light lemon nose. Biscuit flavors. Crisp finish.

Bottle at Passionfish. Clear golden, scant head. Aroma is malty, taste is straightforward malt and not much else. Ordinary.

Bottle from GBBF 2014 and drunk at home. My 200th pilsner/pilsener. Pours clear gold colour with a lasting off white head. Some noble hop aroma. Very tasty very clean pils. Even though imported from America it tastes nice and fresh. Just a very tasty lager and beer. Would happily sink pints of this. Tasty. Nice crisp bitter finish. Drunk whilst watching England dispatch India in the 5th Test at The Oval. Good.

Faint smell of hop. Hazy amber colour, small white head. Aroma of hops, spruce, also some grain. Bitter, rather shrap hoppiness. Fizzy carbon, watery palate.

355ml bottle. Clear golden colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, barely lacing, white head. Grainy, slightly strawy aroma, flat bitter hoppy overtones. Taste is initially purely malty, minimally sweet, minimally grainy, later with floral hoppy overtones. Well, it’s a Pilsener.

I poured this into a pilsener.
The appearance was a nice golden yellow color with a decent transparency showcasing a decent carbonation rising at a moderate pace.
The smell was definitely the German malts coming through in their usual bready sort of way.
The taste was sweet from the German malts. There isn’t any aftertaste, but it does have a decent dry finish.
On the palate, it sat fairly light and sessionable. The carbonation has the usual harshness I look for in a German Pilsener and its good for the style and for me.
Overall, I say this is a pretty good stab at a German Pilsener by an American brewer. Try it if you see it.
