Got this one in a trade. 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best by 2/2/2012. Pours slightly hazy dark reddish brown color with a nice fairly dense 2 finger khaki head with good retention that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, coffee, and light herbal hops. Nice and well balanced aromas with decent strength. Taste of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, toast, caramel, and light herbal hops. Slight bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, chocolate, and rasted malts on the finish for a bit. Good balance of flavors. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy and slightly slick mouthfeel. Very easy and smooth to drink; with hardly any alcohol warming present for 5.6%. Overall this is a nice and enjoyable porter offering. This one was past best by date, but maybe if it was fresher the coffee would be more prominent.

Dark brown. Roasty with light coffee notes. Light, chocolatey, fudgey taste. Very sweet, silky with only a light coffee character. Balanced, tasty.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of ericandersnavy, for FREE. Thanks Eric! Pours a clear dark reddish brown color wirh a fizzy tan medium sized head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of big coffee notes with lots of roastiness, and quite a bit of chocolate. The taste is bitter chocolate, coffee, roasted malts a faintly tart note. Faint bit of hop bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied. Quite drinkable. Nice beer.

Courtesy of markwise. Pours mahogany with amber edges and tan head. The aroma is sweet but also offers a mild level of milk chocolate, some black strap molasses, dark roasted malts, a touch of charred malts and vanilla flavored dark roasted coffee. The taste is at first sweet with sugary molasses and malts blending into some coffee, dark roasted malts, a dash of burnt malts and a sense of milk chocolate. Nice brew.

Review from notes, sampled 1/20/2008 Got a Growler of this in a trade with BeerZack, thanks for the opportunity. Pours a dark brown/black with some deep ruby highlights when held to the light. Stingy head that dissipates quickly to lace on the glass. The aroma is coffee first and foremost with some roasted grains and some dried fruit. Taste is coffee and chocolate and some more retrained fruits. The body is bit thin. The mouthfeel a little grainy and creamy. Aftertaste is all coffee. Really decent Porter, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Received a bottle 12/28/2009 as an extra in a trade with TexIndy, thanks for the opportunity. Pours a dark as night brown that borders on black with the faintest of brown highlights on the outer edges. Stingy tan head dissipates quickly leaving minimal lace. Smells of coffee and chocolate up front with a sweet milk sugar aroma in there as well. Lots of coffee up front in the mouth. Followed by some caramel, dark fruit, some sweet malts finishing with a long lingering roast bitterness. I though I might have found some hops in the taste, but then I lost them again. Mouthfeel is almost creamy bordering on watery. Body is kind of thin, I was expecting a bit more, and the carbonation is medium to high. Decent brew although I would have liked a bit more body. Maybe if I was drinking this in Texas in Aug I wouldn’t be saying that. I certainly would turn down another one if it came my way.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with a thin light gray brown head. Aroma has a strong coffee note as expected with an undertone of roasted malts. Flavor has a coffee note, but it is less intense and the roasted malts show in the finish.
