Carob colored with red highlights and fine bubbles. The modest head is cream in color. A symphony of toasted and cereal aromas fill the nose, evoking the crust of country bread, cocoa, hazelnut and chestnut. There is a vague trace of red fruit. Also hints of cinammon and organic flavors. The first taste comes on sweet, light and gentle with a marked acidity in contrast to the toasted flavors. The mouthfeel is both creamy and light.

The lingering aromas stand out boldly – smoke and brine (sea salt) recall the peaty moors of Scotland.

07/12 0.33 l bottle from L’Espumossa, Barcelona. The bottle made all the way around Spain to be enjoyed in the city where it was bought, on the last evening of our trip. It poured hazy brown reddish body with smaller head. Strong and nice caramel, chicory and chocolate aroma. Flavor was less sweet than expected, rather bitter with coffee and touch of raisins. Surprisingly simple and thin in body. Decent, but short, lightly bitter coffee and cocoa finish. Not bad anyway, but hoped for more after its aroma.

330 ml bottle. Murky brown body with a diminishing tan head. Aroma is light roasted caramel malt, chocolate and hint of liquorices. Flavor is mild roasted malt, caramel and some fruitiness with a decent bitter aftertaste. Feels soft, mild and plain, but a bit unusually at the same time. Not outstanding but fair enough drinkable.

Bottle. Apple, orange, cinnamon, toffee malt and pine hops aroma. Cloudy medium brown color with minimal head. Sweet, slightly smokey toffee malt flavor initially followed by a strong bitter pine hops finish. Complex - not really true to style but a very nice beer nevertheless.

Muddy brown color. Paper and yeast aroma, nuts. Muddy and dusty yeast flavor, covering whatever malt and caramel in here. The final, with some bitterness, also has some astringency from the yeast. Bad and uncontrolled.
