On tap. Pours a very dark brown with light head. Pours a very dark brown with little head. Aromas of dark molasses, creamed coffee, and slick roasted malts. Flavours of smooth espresso, salty dark chocolate, vanilla, a bit of soy and lots of rich roasted malts. Really nice balance for a coffee stout. Only a hint of the ABV.

From bottle @ Uiltje bar, thanks Patrick Verhoeven for providing these! Black color. Light brown head, not much. Aroma’s: (red) fruit, sweet, fruit candies (schuimpjes), only light coffee. Retronasal it’s sweetish, toffee, alcohol/bourbon/whiskey, fruitcandy. Flavor is moderate to full sweet, alcoholic. Medium to full bodied. Finishes with some roast, light bitter. Delicious as the base beer is, I’d expected a bit more coffee.

Bottle shared at Uiltje Bar 2nd Anniversary. Black with a ring tan head. Aroma of coffee, fresh roast, dark chocolate, caramel, toffee and dark malts. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter. Full bodied with alcohol warmth in the finish and soft carbonation.

Sampled at Uiltje Bar’s Anniversary, 2017. Very dark brown pour with a tan head. Notes of bourbon, coffee, vanilla, toffee, caramel, chocolate and a light barrel sourness. Perfectly balanced. 5000th review! 22 ounce bottle into snifter; 2015 vintage, bottled on 10/20/2015. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge nutty dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, molasses, fudge, vanilla, cream, toasted oak, bourbon, and dark bread; with lighter notes of dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, leather, and roast/oak/toasted earthiness. Touch of booze in the aromas as it warms, but really minimal. Incredible aromas with amazing balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of huge nutty dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, molasses, fudge, vanilla, cream, toasted oak, bourbon, and dark bread; with lighter notes of dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, leather, and roast/oak/toasted earthiness. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and fairly sticky/chalky/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Alcohol is very well hidden; a small pleasant warmth lingers after the finish, with minimal barrel booziness. Overall this is an insane BBA imperial coffee stout! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV. The balance of malt, coffee, and barrel flavors is pretty much perfect; with some nice underlying complexity from the age of the bottle. This felt far more aromatic and less boozy than the base beer when I originally had it. A highly amazing offering all around.

Bottle, 2016 vintage thanks to Heekson. Pours inky black with a medium brown head, dissipates slowly with nice lacing. Aroma is coffee and bourbon, vanilla, marshmallow, milk chocolate, espresso beans, light molasses. Flavor is medium sweet, medium bitter, really well balanced with nice bourbon notes accenting the mocha, hints of smokiness on the finish. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. Excellent beer. Perhaps a bit much lingering bitterness, but that is really grasping at straws.
