Our classic bourbon barrel-aged Parabola infused with heirloom Ethiopia Misty Valley coffee beans, freshly roasted by our friends and neighbors at Spearhead Coffee. Parabola's notoriously dark, roasted, bourbon-barrel character is perfectly accentuated by the Misty Valley coffee's distinctive blueberry and milk chocolate notes.

On draught at Brouwer’s Cafe during "6 Degrees of Inebriation" on 04/09/2016. Brown black color with some ruby around the edges. Patchy lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of roasted coffee, malt and oak. Full-bodied with flavors of roast coffee and malt, oaky bourbon and dark chocolate. The finish is roasty with a bourbon-infused mocha aftertaste. Really good all around.

Bottle share courtesy of Darrel. Incredibly smooth, silky. Best of the best. Absolutely sublime. I’m not worthy.

[1/30/16] Bottle sample at the Encomium bottle share, after RateBeer Best awards ceremony at Hyatt Vineyard Creek Hotel in Santa Rosa. Thanks everyone who shared bottles! Tons of coffee, some chocolate, bourbon, roast, some booziness.

Bomber from Tom1 enjoyed at cellar temp with the QC tasting group
A - Pours a black with an almost brown reddish appearance against the light. Not pitch black.
S - There are the expected aromas here. Malted barley, roasted coffee, chocolate, vanilla and coffee…duh. More of a cold brew aroma than Espresso.
T - The mouthfeel is very thin, bitter with a distinct shoe polish finish like some medicinal tar stuff. WTH? Up front, you do get coffee, smoke, barrel and a little bit of vanilla then it turns into this acetone booze bomb like an unpolished black tuesday grain alcohol taste.
M - Thin, fleeting, bitter
O - this doesn’t taste like anything like parabola. Hope this wasn’t a faked bottle for the trade?

9 oz draft pour at Brookland Pint for their grand opening. Jet black with a finger of tan head. Aromas of vanilla, roast, sweet bourbon, espresso. Tastes of roast, chocolate, bourbon, coffee/espresso. Full body with a dry and warm finish. Thick mouthfeel. Good but I prefer Parabola. The coffee seems to overtake some of the barrel character.

Draught @ Firestone Walker Barrelworks, Buellton, CA
Pours clear dark brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, oak, chocolate and alcohol. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter finish with a long warm, coffee, chocolate, licorice, oak and vanilla finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

On tap at Firestone Walker Barrelworks. Almost black, at least dark brown, topped by a dense dark beige head. The aroma has loads of java. I don’t like coffee, but this is really wonderful, although a bit one dimensional. Alcohol and chocolate too. Loads of flavors, more or less like the aroma, but with a nice bitterness to deal with the sugars. Full body, nicely carbonated, but way too warming. Long, long finish. A true beauty, but too alcoholic. 130809
