A traditional Scottish ale brewed with an emphasis on the malt characteristics. Lightly hopped, as is true to this style of beer, with fruity malt aromas and a toffeeish mouth feel.

500 mL bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Different label, stating "Scottish Heavy 80 Shilling Ale." Pours a clear brownish ruby color with a large frothy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of toffee, nutty notes, berries, earthy notes, leafy bitter almost metallic hops. The taste is toffee with an earthy, smoky note. Earthy hops and some berry-like fruits in the finish. Medium bodied. Decent beer.

Pour is a dark amber with a large tan head. Aroma is nice with a very earthy and leathery malt. Flavor is a decent roasted malt with some molasses but a little watery at the end. Not the greatest but deffinalty decent and affordable.

Bottle. Deece session with Moroney in BKLN. Pours opaque brown with a thick, creamy tan head. Roasted malt aroma. Flavor is sweet with light chocolate and bitter roastiness, along with some bread and faint metal. Ligh to medium in body with soft carbonation. There are notes of light coffee and dry bitterness in the finish. Good stuff.

Pours dark mahogany into a thistle. Conglomerate tan head pancakes as it slowly recedes leaving sheet lacing. Toasted caramel and tinned fruit aromas. Thin, yet sharply carbonated with upfront sweet toasted toffee turning slightly smoky in the lasting fruit finish.
