Very similar to the regular Innis and Gunn. The oak does seem to be a bit stronger, and the canadian whisky casks seem to add much more depth in the sweetness of the malts. There vanilla, with also a bit more pronounced, and the traditional "butter" glavor i find in all of the innis and gunn beers it a little stronger here than usual.

Pretty aged sample End of bottle harbours an unsettling batch of UFO's from a cola-coloured beer with almost no head. Light oxidation and a toffee nose, bit of wood, ever so slightly vinous. Sweet, old malts, bit of sherry flavours and mild oxidation; rosewater, tobacco leaf. Seen its age, thinned and low carbonation, but not really lean; bit slick. Surprisingly good, held up very well. Post Borefts I Invasion of Fonefan and Charlottes room tasting! Clear amber beer. Butterscotch malt, not too sweet. Really not tasting that much else. Either my taste has changed or Innis & Gunn have gone downhill sharply.

330mL bottle, pours golden orange with a white head. Aroma of oak, stale malts, and maple syrup. Flavour is very oaky, vanilla and some syrup. Decent, and better than the main Innis & Gunn concoction.

Originally rated November 2009. A very nice salute to Canadians for Canada Day 2009, limited to a 150 Canadian whisky barrels. Comes in a single red box and is matured for 71 days prior to its release (best before December 2010). Sampled in the I&G glass. Pours a clear copper colour with a beautiful slight off-white creamy head that stays a while leaving some nice thick lacing. Carbonation is pretty active with tiny bubbles. Pleasant aromas of toffee, burnt malt, plums and raisins. Kind of unpleasant at first sip, but you get use to it. Buttery taste with the rye oak (and that wax that I have a hard time with in other beers). Not as bad here though. Maybe a bit more hoppy than their Traditional one which takes away some of the toffee flavours. Quite interesting overall and glad they have recognize that Canada loves Innis & Gunn products.

330ml bottle, 2010 edition, matured for 54 days, picked up at Vino Wines Grange Loan in Edinburgh. Shiny surface to a clear, dark brown body. Oak malty sweetness to the nose. Barrel vanilla with sweet malts and fruits. Cherry-like. On the sweet side of bittersweet ending. Mostly masked alcohol (hotel room, 02.12.2010).

Pours dark amber with a large head.Nose shows sweet bready malt, rum and raisin ice-cream, woody oak and cream. Very different, quite sweet.Flavours focus more on the sweet malt and oak, although there’s still some rum and raisin. Again, different but nice. Next to no bitterness.Carbonation should be higher and the body should be thicker.

Bottle, bought at bc liquors, broadmead village. Clear bottle, bright red, creamy offwhite head. Berry and barrique aroma, a bit dusty. Nutty malt base, light berry, nice subtle oak in the back of the throat. Medium mouthfeel, light frothy on the palate. Allthough the base beer is not overwhelming I actually like the finished package, subtle instead of overwhelming barrique notes.

Bottle from Nelson Wines, Merton. Chestnut brown pour with a beige head. Raisins, chocolate, dark fruits and malts in the aroma. Chocolate, vanilla, raisins and malty flavours. Smooth, malty finish. Nice.
