Bottle conditioned, Gold Medal Winning classic old style porter brewed with the addition of flaked barley. Dark and bitter sweet with hints of nut and liqourice from roasted malt. A long creamy and mellow fullness on the finish. Brewed with Pale, Black, Brown and Crystal malt with whole wheat, Fuggles and Challenger hops.

Bottled (at Chriso, bottle from GBBF). Dark ruby red color, small creamy beige head. Grassy and a bit dry woody aroma. Grassy, slightly toasted. Aftertaste has licorice. A bit boring porter.

[500ml bottle from Majestic, bottle conditioned.] Black with a chestnut hue and a ring of tan head; aromas of smoke, licorice and chocolate; creamy in the mouth, exploding with chewy malts and sweet milk chocolate flavours; then a dry chocolate dominated finish. Very drinkable, but somewhat lacking in complexity.

Bottle from ASDA. Near black with a decent tan head. Aroma of dark fruits, plain chocolate and a whiff of smokiness. Smooth drinking with a sweet malty flavour and a bitter finish. A good bottled beer.

(Bottle, Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 24 Oct) Dark mahogany colour with ruby hints and exploding, creamy, beige head. Fruity, roasted nose with mild notes of cherries, dark fruit, chocolate and liquorice. Fruity, malty and nutty taste with dark fruit, raisins, chocolate, liquorice and hints of yeast. Moderate bitterness in the finish. Enjoyable but lacking something extra.

Cask at Mogul, Dover Another excellent beer from this brewery. Dark red beer with roasted malt flavours and some fruit leading to a dryish finish with more choc/coffee flavours and rich fruit. One of my favourite porters.
