[Cask at the Three Horseshoes, Marlow] Pours an attractive chestnut-red with a creamy head. Smells like it looks - rich, sweet and malty. The taste is therefore a bit of a disappointment. There is a hint of sweet treacley malt up front, but mainly it’s dry and woody. This is not bad in itself, but what kills the beer for me is the harsh metallic bitterness which destroys the flavour. I would think that there may have been something wrong with the delivery of the beer if I hadn’t tried it in the brewery tap, which is a Good Beer Guide-listed pub and one where I’ve never had any problems. Maybe it was just a bad batch, but this is certainly the worst I’ve had from Rebellion, although I see my view is at odds with the overall rating!

Cask@GBBF2009. Amber colour, small head. Aroma is wood, hops, some earth, mild zest as well as some fudgelike notes. Flavour is zest, wood, mild hrassy notes. Pleasantly balanced, and also gets some dark fruits/berries in the aftertaste.
