Lord Marples was the first ever Thornbridge beer! Brewed in 2005 at the Hall Brewery we wanted to try a traditional style for our initial offering, and a classic Bitter seemed perfect.
It pours an attractive mahogany, bringing forth flavours of honey and caramel with just a light bitterness in the finish to keep it balanced.
It’s named after Mr Marples, a former owner of Thornbridge Hall, who enjoyed using the title of Lord while never quite achieving it officially, we thought we would bestow it upon him.
Hops: Goldings
Malts: Maris Otter, Caramalt, Crystal, Chocolate

500ml bottle. Pours clear amber brown with a frothy beige head, great retention. Aroma of biscuity malts, caramel, fruity. Taste is malty and quite fruity, biscuity, a little caramel, medium sweet with a pleasant balancing bitterness to finish, which I would've liked a little more of. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. A very nice bitter.

Barwa ciemnej, mocnej herbaty, klarowna. Piana koloru ecru, wysoka, zbudowana z drobnych pęcherzyków i dosłownie kilku większych bąbli, topnieje bardzo powoli, z lekka oblepiające szklankę.
Aromat słodowy, zbożowy, nieco karmelowy, dalej ziemisty i trawiasty i minimalnie chmielowy.

Pours fairly clear, dark amberbrown. mediul sized, very stable, white head. Scent is nice, full maltyness, bit earthy hops. Taste is full, malty, medium bitter (which is higher than usual for the style). Easy drinkable. Mild body, medium to medium high carbo. Lovely.

Clear dark brown with a creamy off-white head and a woody, malty aroma. Decent old school best bitter, cremay and smooth with a nice balance of fruit malt and floral hop bitterness

Bottle from Asda. Clear reddish brown pour with small off white top with good retention. Clean malt aroma with red fruit, pepper, grass. Very good body for the strength - smooth, semi-drying, soft to fine carbonation. Malty and leafy with hint of caramel, mixed berries, light toast, spice dusting. Very good bitter.
