Imperial Pelican Ale is a classic Pacific Northwest IPA. We’re not exactly objective, but we consider this beer to be among the top tier of craft brews – and it’s won enough medals to prove it! Imperial Pelican is one of our first core beer styles (originally named “India Pelican Ale”) and we think of it as part of our own heritage in a bottle. Huge Cascade hop aroma, subtle malty sweetness, and a spicy, citrusy flavor; this ale is all that a Northwest Imperial Pale Ale should be.

On tap at Pelican Pub in Pacifc City. Pours a clear gold with small off white head that lasts. The aroma is tropical fruit and pine. Thin mouth, citrus, crisp, lingering bitterness, very good.

Nice DIPA. Deep copper color with small silky head, robust hop aroma, some citrus. Taste adds more resinous hops and a little alcohol warmth. Medium wright, slightly chewy, and slippery.

Pours a hazy orange gold with one solid head of long lasting foam.
The smell and taste is of a solid malty backbone and tropical fruity hops. Balance is nicely done with a very smooth mouthfeel. Delicious.

Bottle from Beermongers in Portland, OR. Poured a golden colour with a tight, white head. Surprisingly sweet aroma of lavender, honey with some spicy hop. Bitter orange zest on the initial flavour with some biscuity malt and toffee sweetness. Finish was hop resin, dried fruit, mango and straw. Excellently balanced IPA and a fine recommendation for a take home beer.

Bottle with thanks to douglass88! Bottling date 09/26. Pours hazy orange with a small off-white head that dissipates quickly with decent lacing. Aroma is pine, caramel, citrus. Flavor is the same, light plus sweet and medium bitter, resinous. Medium body, oily mouthfeel. Not rising from the pack here...

22oz bottle courtesy of GT2. Filtered gold-orange. Sort of an odd aroma, thin oily head. Resiny, almost burnt hop aroma, resinous oily hop tones despite the cleanish golden malt backbone. Pretty solid example, very West Coast in it’ yeast characteristics. Nice balance.
