A dark, full flavored English porter with Scottish heather honey. Samuel Adams® Honey Porter is a full-flavored, full-bodied English porter with a substantial roasted malt character, offering a smooth, rounded finish. This beer is brewed with traditional English Ale hops and is dry-hopped with East Kent Goldings, known for their spicy aroma and distinctive, earthy flavor. We brew Honey Porter with Scottish heather honey which balances the spiciness of the hops.

This brew is the perfect complement to glazed ham, spicy chili, and roasted vegetables like beets and carrots, which bring out the herbal notes found in the hops and the sweetness of the honey. Samuel Adams® Honey Porter also pairs well with rich desserts such as baklava and molasses cookies.

355ml bottle from CinnamonGirl, thanks. Dense, tan-beige head covering a deep, rosewood body. Lacework on the glassware. Smell of roasted dark malts. Dark honey in flavour with roasted malts beneath. Spicy acidity to a short-lived ending. Soft in the mouth and a bit watered. Halfway pleased (shared with Eva at home, Tromsø 16.10.2009).

Bottle. It pours a clear, amber to ruby body under a small, beige head. Honey, some heather, caramel sweetness and roasted malts in the aroma. The flavor is much the same, honey- and caramel-sweet, with some roasted malts, and there’s also some bitterness. Medium to full body, and a nice bitterness in the finish. A pleasant beer, but a small glass is definately enough. Maybe the honey is too present. 090720

Nice milky muddy brown coloured body with a frothy light brown head that leaves a pretty ugly lace on the glass as it dissolves. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts, a touch of honey and yeast. Medium to Light-bodied; Very mild roasted malt flavour with pit fruits, caramel, toffee and a bunch of spices noticeable. Aftertaste shows a ton of nuts, some mild honey and more bitter malt. Overall, not such a great beer, very mild and not showing the flavours you’d expect from the style and the name of the beer. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Spirits on 25-July-2009, sampled on 19-September-2009 at home in Washington.

355 ml, from Systembolaget, Sweden, thanks to OleR. ABV is 5.45%. Very dark brown colour, big and lasting beige head. Fairly moderate but pleasant aroma of heather honey, also notes of roasted malts, caramel, chocolate, fruity hops and mild coffee. The flavour is not as sweet as I feared, but the heather honey has a distinct presence throughout, nicely balanced by the hops. There is also a moderate roastiness, again with moderate notes of caramel, chocolate and mild coffee. Unlike the brewers I would not call this a "robust" porter, but it is certainly a good one all the same.

12 oz. bottle, Storm lake, IA Hy-Vee. A big brown-to-black pour with very little head. Nice porter smell, with a bit of sweetness. Taste offers similar porter character of dark roast, but doesn’t push into stout territory. Definite honey presence; in fact, it’s quite sticky. Barely detectable bourbon finish. Honey smell grows a bit strong by the end of the bottle.
