Hella dark. Witha big tan head that leaves before I would have like it to. Nice smell... some honey in it. The taste is a standard porter taste, but, there is a slight sweetness, which I could only assume would be derived from honey. Kind of roasty, but sort of watery.

I’m not a big fan of Porters, but this was ok. The honey smell wasn’t strong, but very nice. The color was brownish yellow, not particularly pleasing but gets points for uniqueness. The flavor was complex, sweet, and generally enjoyable. The presence of honey was felt before and after, but not during, which was nice. It’s an excellent change of pace.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with a medium sized brown head. The aroma was light roasty and tangy sour malts. The mouthfeel was nicely smooth. The flavor was bitter roasty malts with a hint of chocolate and a fairly long roasty finish.

Just when you think you’ve tasted all the Sammy’s that are available in the area ….there is another. I thought I tasted this before but after I checked the list I saw it was missing. This is a 12 oz brown bottle with the typical dude raising his mug up for a toast. Pop the lid for an aroma of beery yeast laced with honey. The aroma is not real strong and does have some of that porter hint about it. Pour this into my new coach steeler stein and yes it is lookin like a porter. Dark, without haze and hints of red tinge shining thru. The label says they use Scottish heather honey. First taste is malty, no honey present. I’m not sure if this is sweet or not, can’t detect much sweetness at first. Very porterlike, malty, roasty and not overwhelming. After a few gulps there is some bitterness building on the back of the throat. Good porter personality without overpowering bitterness. Medium carbonation. Sip after sip the bitterness begins to build, but it is not the kind of bitterness that you would associate with bitter stouts. Not as good as Michelob or Bells Porter but better than JW Dundees and Great Lakes porters. Much much better than Saranac caramel porter. Finish leaves a mild to medium bitterness that hangs around for awhile.

A dark clear brown porter with an extra thick lacing moka head, froathy. A strong smell of clover honey, with light caramel and chocolate. In mouth, a rather sweet porter with loads of honey, a bit cloying, with nestle quick and bitter chocolate finale. Light and rather short. 6-pack mix, 7.29$, CJs in Potsdam NY, 11 Feb. 2007.

Pour is a clear brown with held up to the light. Aroma is is smoky but mosty the honey comes thru. Flavor is smoky malts but i do get lots of honey at the back of the tongue after the swallow. Still this is a very weak porter and almost a brown. Prob not worth it to get the whole 12 pack sampler for this one. I found a single for a buck and that is about what its owrth.

Very distinctive honey aroma. Perhaps a touch of chocolate or roast lays in there. The flavor was only slightly honeyed, but was more of a clean dark malt, with a touch of mocha. Lean finish. Dark ruby color. Don’t think this is retired anymore: got it December 2006 in Jax, FL in a mixed holiday pack.

It is being brewed again, sort of. It is in the competition for the public to decide which beer will be brewed next by Sam Adams. This is a good porter. The honey is prominent and present in the flavor and aroma. Light, bitter coffee. Black with a thin and quickly fading head. Very smooth and drinkable. Medium palate.
