Based on old monastery recipes, there is now Steinfelder monastery beer, a dark beer, bottom-fermented and unfiltered with a strong taste. The Steinfelder Klosterbier is an honest but also tasty beer that is brewed by a master hand according to the purity law of 1516 and matured for you in the vats of the Gemünd brewery.

Hazy amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is dominated by diacetyl with a little grainy malt behind it. Sweetish malty flavour with a roast note, lots of diacetyl and a slightly sour finish

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a clear amber with an off-white head. Lots of butter in the nose. Medium body, dry roasted malts with a discreet underlying tartness. Ends dry. Must be slightly off. 031009

Bottle: Hazy, copper coloured, smaller off-white foamy layer; faint dark-malty nose with even fainter traces of roasted malt and vegetables in the backyard; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light bodied; slightly drier delicate dark-malty and extremely light bitter finish. A drinkable, but very inoffensive brew...........

(bottle) Hazy, copper colour with a medium-sized tanned foamy head. Yeasty and sweet, slightly toasted malty aroma with caramel, nettle-like spices and a subtle fruity note. Light-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Toasty malty with caramel, cacao and shy fruity elements; faint bitter and slightly toasted finish with subtle fruity notes in the aftertaste. Might be a good session beer. 03.IX.09
