Kopparfärgad ale drucken på fat på Hawkley in. Nötig smak och typisk fruktig real ale karaktär. En av de bättre.

Cask at the Bricklayers’ Arms, Putney, London UK on 11th November 2009. Deep ruby with dissipating pale brown head. some burnt, roast malt and a hoppy undertone. Dry finish and dry texture, nevertheless a refreshing and pleasant dark ale.

Cask (handpump) @ Seven Stars, 53 Carey Street, London, Greater London England WC2A 2JB.Clear dark red brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, light nutty, chocolate notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, and a dry finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090803]

Dark brown with a lasting off-white head. Aroma of caramel and toffee with a hint of fruit. Sweet fruity and caramel malty flavour

Cask gravity at The Butcher’s Arms, Herne. Someone said on Scoopgen that this was a rebadge of the Old Ale, actually it was the guy from the Evening Star, Matt, so I guess he knows. Deep, deep ruby. Another in the run of dark ales that I’ve had. It’s very good, rather good smoothness. Aroma is of dark malts, not over dominated by anything, some dark fruits. Bit of a sting on the finish. Some Turkish Delight with the choc. Bit of lasting sourness. Good

Cask gravity at Reading BF 2007. Deep ruby colour with lasting beige head. Choccy aroma. Not overly sour, bit grainy, quite dry, lovely flavour, some charcoal towards end. Not really an old ale, more a strong mild. Nice though. Little bit of smoked ham aroma pointed out by Duff, but I didn’t get any sourness on finish.

Cask@Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Rubyish brown colour with small off-white head. Aroma is hops, some toffee, ashes and wooden notes. Flavour is caramel malts, some nuts, flowery hops as well as some mild salty notes.

Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Chestnut brown. Chocolaty and lightly roasty. Medium bodied with chewy, somewhat oily mouthfeel. Some toffee and tobacco. Salty finish.

Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Dark mahogany colour. Roasty earthy nose. Dry, yet fruity with some raisins and perfumy hops and tobacco. Light bodied with a solid earthy maltiness. Salty bitter finish. Really good!

Cask Conditioned at Akkurat, Stockholm
Dark color. A good malty and caramel sample; the aroma is not strong, breadish maybe; the flavor is much stronger; it also has a good quality hopping. Long and strong final.

Small offwhite creamy head. Deep dark red body. Deep earthy caramelly aroma with fruity notes. Dry licorice and medicinal taste. Kind of flat mouthfeel. Aftertaste just kind of fades. Boring. (0.4l cask at Oliver Twist.)
