In Deutschland erlebt das Märzen eine kleine Renaissance – Otto Grohe liebte es schon in seinen Tagen als Braumeister. Seinen malzaromatischen Charakter und die tiefe Bernsteinfarbe erhält es durch fünf verschiedene Spezialmalze. Prägnant vollmundig mit einer leichten Röstnote.

Bottle from Maruhn. Clear dark amber with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty and lots of caramel. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and light bitter finish. 011214

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein bernsteinfarbenes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig, würzig, leicht fruchtig. Geschmack malzig fruchtig, getreidig, leichte Bitterkeit.

Aroma is malty with some metallic notes and bready malt. Flavour is sweetish with bready malt, some caramel, hints of herbs and metal. Decent.

Bottled@One Pint Pub, Helsinki. Deep golden to amber colour with a mediumsized foamy white head that leaves ome lace. Aroma is bready, mildly toasted with some slight nuts and quit floral and grassy hops to it. Flavour is sweet malts, some slight grassy and gloral hops along with some herbal and earthy notes. Quite sweet aftertaste.

Thick frothy head. Sweet cinnamon aroma, a little bit of hay. Amber color. Mild carbonation. Rather dry as advertised. Very smooth and drinkable.

Bottle 50cl. @ home.Clear medium to dark amber (cola) color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, light nutty. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to light light light heavy bitter with a average to long duration, and a dry finish. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20090930]

Bottle. Old vegetable malt aroma. Reddish brown color with small head. Watery caramel malt and bitter hops flavor. Pretty mediocre beer.

Hazy dark amber color; creamy head. The aroma is not very good, stale cereals. The flavor is ok, with a mix of caramel and a light malt. And it ends with a fair bitterness. Still, it’s not impressive.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of Grovlam. Clear, orangey brown with a nice, off-white head. Aroma of caramel and malt. Medium body, nutty malty with a somewhat cardboardish edge. The finish is dry. 230407
