Dark reddish-brown. Sweetish, earthy with a nice caramel character. Earthy with light toffee and liquorice. This is a nice dunkel.

Tap @ Brewpub. Dark brown colour / dark red colour, disappearing off-white head. Aroma of subtle caramel malts, slightly hoppy. Flavour is caramel malts, little chocolate and little roastiness. A bit harsh.

(Draught at the brewpub, Berlin, 21 July 2010) Dark brown colour, almost black, with frothy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, dark bread, caramel and a touch of ashes. Malty, roasted taste with toffee, dark chocolate and dark rye bread. Spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with just a touch of sweetness. Very nice and enjoyable.

Draught at the brewpub. Quite a dark place so hard to say how dark the beer is. Good off white head. Strong malt flavour. Solid brewpub beer

07/03 Draught at the brewpub. It poured almost black body with small brown head. Cocoa, coffee and little bit of herbal hops in aroma. Nice coffee malt profile, not overly bitter, rather extended to some chocolate and wood flavors. Slight herbal bitterness showed up as well. Medium bodied with long fine coffee finish. Definitely the best Schwarzbier around, and for sure, it has nothing to do with dunkel, as stated here.

Draught at the brewpub. Poured an opaque body, almost black, very dark brown I guess. Brownish head that stuck there for awhile. Sweet malty, slightly grainy nose. Roasty, yoghurty taste, dark malts, woody, nice roastiness, sweet. Some bitterness coming from the hops, creamy mouthfeel. A solid dark... my notes are slightly jumbled on this one but I’m pretty sure I’ve liked it.

On tap at the brewpub 30/09/09. reddish brown in colour with a decent off-white head. Plenty of caramel character and doughy malts balanced by a spicy, nutty kick and bitter finish. Full of character.

On tap. Very cloudy orangey brown with a dense and stable shaving foam-style off-white head that leaves broad curtains of lacework. Aroma of roasted malt and a whiff of yeast. Medium body, sweetish roasted malt and fat licorice accents. Dry, lightly bitter finish. A pleasant but atypical Dunkel. 070109
