No colors anymore, I want them to turn black...
Painted Black is a blended and barreled behemoth of a stout. This 13% beauty spent a year maturing in Weller bourbon barrels. It was then conditioned on house-processed Madagascar vanilla beans, Columbian-sourced whole bean dark roast from Counter Culture Coffee, and cacao nibs.
These adjuncts contribute big, bold flavors evocative of affogato. As Painted Black warms, though, barrel character and a touch of bourbon elegantly emerge.
...it’s not easy facing up when your whole world is black.

On tap at Free the Whales. Pours black with small tan head that lasts. The aroma is roasted malt, vanilla, cocoa, wood, bourbon. Medium body, roast, cocoa, vanilla bean, wood, boozy finish, good sweetness, very nice.
