Can. It pours a crystal clear, copper body, with a nice carbonation ending up in a finger-thick, creamy off-white head. Slightly vegetal aroma with some caramel and a little hoppy touch. Rather boring, and that goes for the flavor too. There’s some cooked vegetables in the flavor too, some caramel and lightly roasted malts, some sweetness and a balancing bitterness. Medium body with a fine carbonation. Sweet, lightly bitter finish. It’s an easy drinkable beer, but dead boring for a Christmas beer, and with some disturbing DMS. Sure, it’s drinkable, but I wouldn’t serve it with a Christmas meal. (090418)

500 ml can, thanks to OleR. ABV is 4.7%. Brown to copper coloured beer, big and lasting cream coloured head. Moderate aroma of caramel, malts and nuts, hints of bakery and some fruit. The flavour is malty and nutty, notes of caramel but the beer is not too sweet. Low bitterness. The mouthfeel reveals that this is a "grocery store strength" juleøl, but as such it is not too bad at all.

Huge light brown beige shiny lasting head. Deep hazy brown body. Papery straw and malts aroma with caramel notes. Dry straw and caramel taste with roasty malty notes. Thinnish body. Dry roasty straw and malts aftertaste. Decent, I guesss. No off tastes, but too watery. (0.5l can from gr0ve.)

500ml on tap at Ølhallen, Tromsø. Unfiltered and unpasteurised. The brewmaster at the Mack Brewery found an old xmas beer receipt from 1936 (50 EBU, 43 EBC) in the archive and brewed 500 litres, only to be sold at Ølhallen. So when most visitors at the hall had the new spring- or summer lagers from Mack, we went for this xmas brew.
Inviting, deep rusty brown body colour under a filmy, white layer. Smell of lightly sweet malts. Flavour has got good hints of roasted caramel and dark fruits. Light bittersweet finish. Refreshing, but a bit overcarbonated (28.04.2007).
