Barley Wine dates back to before the Napoleonic Wars. Back then, it was considered unpatriotic to drink French wine, the British were forced to find an alternative. The high alcohol content and bitterness combined with caramel, dried fruits and oak give Midtfyns Barley Wine a very well-balanced and unique taste.
Our Barley Wine is the perfect dessert beer and goes well with mild and creamy cheese. It also compliments rich dishes, such as like osso buco and roast pork. Midtfyns Barley Wine can also be used as a marinade to create a fantastic flavored dish to remember!

50 cl bottle @ olio, BBE 15.03.2014
Aroma is stale with berries, some vanilla, caramel and biscuits. Flavour has nettles, berries typical to danish ales, some caramel and gooseberry bush. Too much berries here, decent.

Flaske 0,5l fra Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget. Drukket hjemme 12 Des 12. Amber. Uklar.

Cremig. Süß, süß, süß! 11/8/4/7/9/8

0.5l bottle. Pours a deep hazy chestnut-brown body with a fading beige and creamy head. Aroma is nice caramel, dark ripe fruits, roasted dates, strawberries, light grassy, pecan nuts and a hint of alcohol and yeast. Really full-bodied, average to softly carbonated and has a chewy and thick texture. You can quite feel the alcohol, and it's really caramel-sweet. Ends with a lingering alco finish, slight stingy, and has a quite sweet aftertaste with dark malty/burned caramel. I don't particular like it when the barlywines gets too sweet, and this one unfortunately is a tad to sweet for my liking. Noticed that this bottle has braille on the label. Nice little touch there from Midtfyns, but that does not save this from being an average barlywine.
