Heartwood is our first pastry style Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout. We aged a massive stout in Oppidan Bourbon barrels for 14 months and then pulled it from it's slumber to tinker with. We added Vermont Maple Syrup and Madagascar Vanilla to create an indulgent experience. Big bold barrel notes, and dark grain complexity, melt into sweet maple tones and vanilla richness.

16oz can. Overboard sweet. The bourbon barrel comes through in the aroma rather boldly. Maple syrup and vanilla go in the opposite direction of balance, just maximizing sweetness. Tasty, but syrupy, not that impressive.
