Voluminös hefiger Antrunk, typisch belgisch wirkend. Etwas alkoholisch, süffig, süßlich und wenig kräuterartig. Zum Ende hefig und ausklingend aromatisch mit süß-saurer Note. 12/9/10/8//9

Location: 750 ml bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 1/9/11
Aroma: The nose is sweet and spicy, candy, Belgian yeast, earth, and a little bit of fruit.
Appearance: This one pours into the glass a mostly clear golden-orange with a thick and creamy long lasting white head and tons of lace covering the outside of the glass.
Flavor: The taste is somewhat sweet with flavors of peeper, alcohol, candy, and some earth. There is something unpleasant in the end palate/finish that definitely detracts from the flavor of this one.
Palate: It is medium bodied, there is some heat and some astringency, with an long finish
Overall Impression: This is my first beer of the first Sunday of the playoffs! This was a really nice looking beer, and then I tried it. It wasn't nearly as good as I was hoping it would be. Unfortunately, I just didn't really enjoy drinking this one. It isn't terrible, but I had a hard time getting past that unpleasant feeling it leaves on the tongue. Too bad, I wanted it to be better.

750 ml. Hazy golden body. Short, frothy white head, mostly diminishing. Bready, alcoholic aroma with hints of cookie, toasted grain, husks, flowers and dough. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. It finishes is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter and lightly acidic. Medium body, watery texture that turns chalky, lively carbonation. With alcohol dominating the nose, there are only hints of other characteristics. The flavor is disjointed especially the sweet finish that leaves a strong aftertaste of artificial sweetener on top of alcohol. Either pedestrian or unenjoyable on every level.

750ml bottle. Not a gusher, but certainly one that blows up when it hits the glass, constant overflow potential. Bitter alcohol-laced sugary orane aroma. Looked pretty filtered until the last 1/3 of the bottle, so don’t trust those 2oz RB-style samples. Big foamy head helps smooth it out considerably, adding a nice creaminess to the rich golden-tripel taste. Some solid bitterness attempts to balance out the malt sweetness, but it drowned in a yeasty, sugary flood of flavor. Almost some banana flavors, hefe-reminiscent. A pretty good beer, not quite Belgium’s finest, but blowing your average non-Belgian example out of the water.

Pour is a golden with a small fizzy white head. Aroma some spice, yeast and fruity. Flavor starts out like an apple cider with some vinegar and spice then follows up with a yeast and spice. Alcohol is not a problem with no noticable burn. Deffinalty a tasty and different brew. Also a frigging bargan at only $3 a bottle at my local world market. I guess this is on clearance after Halloween.

750 corked bottle. Aroma: Belgian. Thick frothy head which never dissipates, hazy golden hue. Beautiful beer. It looks like a cloud I want to lay down and sleep on. Tastes of banana esters; full-bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Strong alcohol presence. Fantastico!
