Holy crap the spice is all over the map! Crazy. Nose is fun and fairly pleasant, full of nutmeg, cinnamon, apple pie, pepper, thought I smelled thyme but maybe it was just the weird combo of all those other spices. Flavor is less pleasant, with the spices really harsh on the palate. Light malt is dominated by the spicy pepperiness. Maybe some phenols in the finish. Lingering pepperiness. Semi-dry.

On tap at Copenhagen Beerfestival, served by the brewer. An almost clear, a bit pale golden, with a small white head. Spiced, citrusy nose, rather sugary. Citrus, wheat malt and a nice hop dose giving citrus and some resin. Medium body, dry, with a nice co2 level. Nice finish with some sugars to deal with the bitterness and spices. A well-crafted, quenching beer. (090516)

Draft at Nachbar. Hazy gold body with diminishing white head. Lots of spice mixed with fruit in the aroma. Clove, ginger, nutmeg, pepper. Banana, coconut, lemongrass. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes dry, moderately sweet and lightly bitter. The aftertaste includes a peppery bite. Though not cloying, it is too sweet. Medium body with a syrupy texture that turns slightly sticky. Lively carbonation. The beer has an interesting and complex nose, but the taste was a disappointing because there’s too much going on all at once. Still, I enjoyed it.

This beer is a bizarre experience - I’ve never tasted a beer that had so much going on, and yet seemed to lack something that held it all together - the aroma smacks you in the face with lemongrass and tamarind, but deeper sniffs reveal ginger and fennel, light hints of coconut milk - moderate carbonation, fairly light-bodied for the strength - fennel and coconut are fairly apparent in the flavor at first - moderate honey sweetness, banana - notes of clove and ginger through the middle - and odd, celery-like flavor that must be the result of one of the many spices in this beer - finishes with mild alcohol heat and a touch of pepper - the paradox of this beer: it has too much going on, yet not enough; I can’t shake the feeling that something is missing - anyway, an interesting, albeit not completely great drinking experience.

Draft @ Vine & Barley. This is a weird one. I’m not really sure what I think about it. Pours hazy golden color with white head. Crazy spice aroma. Corriander, pepper, orange peel, clove, bananas, cinnamon, fennel. Overly sweet flavor. I’m getting the spice flavors similar to the aromas with some Belgian yeast. Medium body with average carbonation. Too much going on.

See-through golden-yellow body. Fruity aroma. Spiced flavour with a blend of tropical fruits and honey sweetness. Little bitterness to counter the sweet impact. Well bodied. Soft carbonated (taster at CBF, 16.05.2009).

Draught, 8% at KØ09. Spicy wheat aroma. Cloudy yellow colour. The flavour is sweet and spicy with some medicinal phenols. Tastes OK, though. Sweet, spicy and strange.
