On October 13, 2007, at our Brewery Tenth Anniversary Party (Waffles and Puppets) we introduced Ommegang Chocolate Indulgence Stout to the world. Chocolate Indulgence comes with a thick tan head of foam resting on top of the rich onyx-colored liquid. The aroma immediately speaks of dark chocolate and dark malts. The gentle herbal nose of Perle hops compliments the darker notes, making the beer savory to the senses.
The taste continues with the intense Belgian dark chocolate gliding across the tongue; starting sweet up front but giving way to rich cocoa flavors at the back. Through it all, a subtle fruitiness from our special Belgian yeast gives the beer brightness otherwise foreign to a beer style normally associated with gray foggy skies.

Bottled@The 2nd ES/CS Beer Tasting. (thanks J.S.). Quite much pitch black colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is chocolate, mild roasted malts, liquorice, some toffee as well as coffee and mild nutty notes. Flavour is chocolate, liquorice, roasted malts as well as mild syrupy and sweet maltyness. Quite a bitter finish.

Poured from 750 ml corked bottle. 2011 vintage. Dark brown – nearly black with big fluffy, off-white head with great lacing. Aroma is Belgian chocolate. Taste is some chocolate but mostly Belgian. Finish is slightly bitter; Nicely balanced; Overall, I was expecting more chocolate flavor - but still a very good stout. Maybe not worth the large price tag. Shared with LiteWait.

almost a milk stout in how creamy and easy to drink this was. although its an advertisment for the chocolate and decadence and so forth, this wasnt all present in the flavor, which seemed to be more of a lacto stout. very easy to drink and enjoy, better to share, not so decadent more smooth.

Review from notes, sampled 1/2/2008 Pours a dark brown with a large head that dissipates quickly. Smell is of chocolate, some coffee, and a fruity smell from the yeast. Taste is more of the chocolate and coffee with a funk in the finish that I found unpleasant. I think it was fruity esters from the yeast and while I might enjoy that in another beer, it seemed out of place here. Mouthfeel was a bit on the thin side, carbonation on the high side. I had high hopes for this one, but I didn’t really enjoy this it.

750mL bottle, pours black with a substantial tan head. Aroma of bitter dark cocoa, slight espresso and some roasted malts. The mildly bitter dark cocoa is what jumps out to the palate, with a light (for a stout) body, and a bitter dark cocoa finish. Quite nice.

Bottle thanks to my wife buying me ommengang variety pack. Smells of coffee and cocoa and pours is a deep dark brown. Tastes very much of milk chocolate without being super sweet. Plenty of roasted maly flavor. Very enjoyable but I couldn’t drink too much more than this 750ml
