Aromatic barley malts and an exquisite belnd of hops combine to create a wonderful balance of sweet biscuit and subtle fruit flavours, with a hint of chocolate bitterness. (Contains barley).

Cask at the Gunmakers, London on 10th February 2010. Rich, intensely grassy and aromatic with classic Adnams haystack straw nose and a bitter, spicy aftertaste. Zingy mouthfeel.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 21/04/09. Brown in colour with a slight, off-white head. A sweetish, malty drink, with some fruit and a touch of bitterness in the finish. Ok.

Cask handpull at Samuel Peto, Jdw, Folkestone. I enjoyed this in bottle, so I was interested in it on cask. Yes, still a veery solid better than average best brown bitter. Good toffee and fruity malt. I like it.

[Gravity cask at Back of Beyond, Reading] Pours deep amber-ruby (pale for a modern mild) with a slight white head. Tastes of caramel and malt and buttered toast, but with bitterness in the finish that (although only moderate) is a little too strong for the flavours. Felt a little watery. Overall it’s OK, but a little disappointing coming from one of my favourite brewers. c7
