Fondly named after our neighboring City Center, Altstadt translates to "town"-meaning a "historical city centre." Altbier is recognized as a crisp, clean-tasting, full-bodied beer with a nutty bittersweet finish.
Dating back to the early 1200s, brewing was an important part of this period within areas such as Cologne and small villages like Dusseldorf. Ale yeasts used in these early times were slowly refined and chosen to perform vigorous fermentations in cooler temperatures. These yeasts have become the defining and unique ingredients in both the Kolsch and Alt Styles.
