A rich, copper ale with a case full of gold medals.
Our California Amber takes its inspiration from traditional English ESBs. Four types of malts give it a bold complexity, and our proprietary yeast strain lends it a fruity, madeira-like richness. However, it’s the American hops that give this ale a distinct bite and floral aroma that have earned it just about every major beer medal.

Well, I can see from the beginning why this rates high on this site. Big floral hop aroma and the first taste is all hops, in IPA form. Way off style, IMHO. Also, seems like the alky content is much more than 5% if you go by flavor. Forward bitter malts in there too. Long bitter IPA finish, way too much for this lager lover.

Draft. Ginger Man, NYC. Clear amber body. think, light borwn head, mostly lasting. The aroma is malty with toasted grain, cookie and caramel. Notes of flowers and grapefruit. the flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet, moderately acidic and moderately bitter. Tart, off flavor in the finish. Medium body with a creamy texture turning watery, lively carbonation. Nice aroma and nice flavor to start, but it heads south in the finish.

Bottle Pours out a dark amber topped with a small sand head. Aroma of rich malts, light nuts, and dusty wood. Taste of bread malts, light sweetness and citrus hop bitterness on the end.

Pour is a dark brown with a small white head. Aroma is a caramel malts with a nice hoppyness to it. Flavor is even better with some bread and toasted nuts followed with a decent hop. Finish leaves some pine hops on the tounge. A very flavorful amber ale.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 26 Sep 2009) Dark amber colour with frothy, beige head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of orange, caramel and grainy malt. Malty, fruity taste with toasty grain, orange and spicy, slightly piney hops in the finish. Generous bitterness. Medium body, with balanced sweetness and a solid malt structure. Well balanced and tasty beer.

Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival. Clear amber. Perfumy hoppy nose. Mid-sweet and medium bodied with clean rounded mouthfeel. Lighty caramelly, ever aromatic. Long salty bitterness. Quaffable, tasty amber ale worthy this great brewer!

Bottle from GBBF 09. Russet clear, lasting deep beige head. Some US hop aroma. Bit of boiled cabbage/vegetal on aroma. Ok amber in the mouth, some decent stony malt. Finish has some toffee and some more vegetal notes and some hop. Overall not that good, the vegetal notes put me off
