Our extraordinary Imperial Stout is black as midnight with a rich, palate-warming mouth feel. It offers an alluring aroma of dark roasted malts and blackstrap molasses with a hint of smoke. The flavor features notes of coffee, bittersweet cocoa, black licorice and hint of prune. A generous addition of hops contributes complexity and balance plus a pleasantly astringent finish. With proper aging, our Imperial Stout matures for up to fours years. Winner of a prestigious Gold Medal for Bottle Condition Ale at 2002 Real Ale Festival.

What an amazing extra. 2006 bottle. This is just a well aged, and amazing imp. stout. Pours black, with mahogany head and lacing. Aroma has plenty of dark fruits and light hops. Taste, dark fruits - cherry, prunes - molasses and roasted that cover the palate. Light bitter hops finish with resinous mouthfeel. The beer seemed to be much higher in abv. The alcohol is very warming and enjoyable. Also had notes of licorice giving it a sweet sugary feel. Very smooth and one amazing brew. Thumbs up.

Bottle from Vintage Cellar. Black color with a frothy dark tan head. Aromas of dark fruits and toasted/burnt malt. Full bodied with frothy/creamy carbonation. Flavors of sweetish dark fruits, chocolate, burnt malt, and maybe coffee. Finish is surprisingly dry and marvelously bitter. Drinks incredibly well.

Pour is a thick black with no head. Aroma is super sweet with some light coffee and malts. Flavor is again sweet but light all around. Some coffee and chocolate are present but again everthing is on the light side. The finish is syurpy and bitter. I did not like this one too much.

2005 bottle from HailSquishFace - thanks, man! - had I realized the age of this bottle before I opened it, I might have saved it for something a bit less mundane than a Wednesday evening nightcap - oh, well - I’m normally not a fan of arcadia beers, but this one is a bit different - dark ruby, nearly black pour, with a soapy lace - aroma of burnt malts/sugars, tobacco, and a lot of red wine character - some noticeable alcohol underneath - low carbonation, but a kind of thin body for the style - almost tart red wine tannins up front, followed by some roasted malts, caramelized sugars, and ashy character - a bit dry in the finish, with some more wine-like qualities - not terribly complex, but interesting for an arcadia beer.

Opaque black color with big creamy expresso head. Toasted aroma with some vanilla/fudge -notes. Very coffeish flavor - creamy palate with full body. Kind of vanilla notes in flavor too. Sweetish impy, but a good one.

Bottle courtesy of Hogtownharry (2005 vintage drank in 2008): Poured a pitch-black color stout with a medium size light brown foamy head with good retention but no lacing. Aroma of vanilla and raisins with some vinous notes is really interesting. Taste is a complex mix between some sweet malt, vanilla, some dry raisins with some interesting vinous notes. Full body with some great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Definitely more complex then I was expecting and very well balance overall.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown/black with a touch more fizz than expected. Aromas are roasty with a touch of dark fruit, but fairly subtle for an Impy Stout. Flavor is sweet, roasty and kind of dull. I didn’t find much in the way of complexity or plot development and was left without much satisfaction.

$5 for a 12 oz bottle. Bored, I had to try something aggressive. Very alky volatile aromas and its pitch black but surpizingly not too viscous. Strong alky flavors with a bit of roasty back woods campfire coals. Not as bitter or offensive as most imp stouts but is still rude and a good representaive of the style. This style is a little too much for my girlie lager lovin taste buds. Finish is nearly terrible unforgetable whisky soaked alky taste bud numbing liquid. Will not buy again. Curious rough seas venture satisfied.

This stout poured a deep black colour with a deep brown head. To the nose you could smell wine, chocolate, nuts, paint thinner and a very earthy scent. First taste was very roasty with flavours of coffee and burnt malt. Little cocoa flavour. Slightly hoppy finish left palate a little bitter. Very bold flavours reminded me of a old cough candy named Melloids.
