An "amber" beer with a malty backbone, balanced with resinous hoppy flavour. Dry hopped with Centennial and Amarillo, the beer has aromas of citrus and pine, which balance out the off-dry caramel body.

(On tap at the brewpub, Sept 29 2014) Pours a lightly hazed medium reddish brown with a moderate tan head that was frothy but left little lace. Aroma has definite orange zest and flesh (Amarillo?), leafy green hops with some pine resin, caramel and a bit of brown bread from the malts in support. Palate less hop-driven than aroma with pine and citrus pith mixing with caramel and a bit of dark fruit malt character with hints of toast. Pretty sweet most of the way through with some drying hop bitterness on the finish, though only lightly bitter in an IPA context. Body just the full side of average, with average carb. This is a pretty good “regular beer” and a little like a hop-detuned version of GLB’s Devil’s Pale, but it is a touch more inoffensive and without overly big flavours. Nothing wrong with the beer, but not my favourite Bellwoods by a stretch.
