Smooth malt Flavors of this Belgian-style abbey ale are complimented by traditional imported ingredients. A slightly spicy and complex flavor makes this European celebration-style beer unique and refreshing.

Pour clear amber into a snifter. Off-white head quickly recedes leaving no lacing. Alcohol and candi aromas. Light and sweet with lighter pit fruit and grain alcohol burn.

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of SoLan. Pours a clear deep golden with an off-white head. Aroma of fruit and yeast. Medium body with very sweet fruits - almost fruit bubblegum - and a whiff of diacetyl and yeast. Subdued bitterness but quite some alcohol in the finish. 260708

Bottled - tasted blind. An amber beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma is sweet mlaty with notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel and alcohol - caramel soup, leading to a slightly bitter finish. Somewhat boring.

From bottle #3 at sk8vikings American blind tasting. Pours cloudy orange with a lacing white head. Caramel malt and light spiced aroma. Flavour starts sweet and spiced. A bit dry and malty flavoured following this before the finish. Light metallic too. Light wooden and spiced finish. Dry caramel and mild fruity too.

Bottle from the Beer Geek. Amber color with a minimal beige head. Roasted, but no way toasted, malt - very subtle - not raw like American reds. A little candi. Yeast spice. Smells warm when it’s cold. What a great aroma. Medium plus body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is mildly sweet malt, with candi notes, yeast and spice. Finishes a bit sweet, but it truly fits the style.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a caramel-bronze color with a small yellow-white head. The aroma was sweet caramel and candied fruits. The flavor was very sweet, sugary, yeasty, bready and chewy with a candied fruit element. A bit of alcohol came through. The finish was long and sweet. It is rare that I find a beer to be too sweet for my taste but this one managed to do it.

On tap at the Bocktown. Rather sweet attractive candy aroma. Foamy head subsides after a few. Orangy red pale lager color and appearance. Faily strong starting alky blast to the taste buds, immediately numbed. Decent tingly carbonation for a big beer. Not as smooth as I like them but better than most strong american belgie beer immoes. Mouth coating liquor palate. One of the better Belgie imitations. Not in yer face like many american belgies. Finish is lingering alky. A little too much for my girlie lager taste buds. However, a good example of the style.

This is good. It is a very sweet interpretation of the style. The aroma has Belgian yeast and malt. Lots of sugar in the flavor with a touch of fruit. Gold color and moderate carbonation. As good as the flavor it, this beer is lacking complexity. I would describe this as a Belgian quad in the vein of Avery Reverend.

As much as I like the two other Hoppin Frog beers I have tried, I disliked this one. Its malty sweetness and strong alcohol dominate everything, pushing aside any subtle aromas and flavors that may be part of this beer. Clear deep golden color with small, diminishing off-white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of plastic and alcohol. Very, very subtle smell of spice and fruit. The flavor is heavily sweet. The alcohol heavily influences the finish. Sticky mouthfeel. Minimal carbonation. A disappointment.
