Batch 004 with a big thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a small off-white head and a hazy golden body. Aroma of wood, funk, sweet fruit, wine, musky and peppery. Taste is very, very sour with some stomach acid, peaches, more acidity and dryness. Mouthfeel is also funky, dry and acidic. Very nice.

Bottle two of the night at Lost Abbey. Pours a light orange with little head. Aromas are familiar and sour. A more vinegar basde smell than Isabelle, but with a sweet nectarine/peach edge. Flavor is similar and fantastic. It is like chewing on a not quite ripe nectarine with a bit of funk to it and a nice crispness.

Bottle @ home. Looks really, really good. The beer in the glass also, very zippy, huge head. Starts very intense sourish, fruity like lemon and a bit apricot. Finish modest sourish, not as intense as the beginning. Very drinkable. Prickly, modest dry aftertaste. Very, very good!

Bottle 75cl. @ [ Chris O’s pre NYE Tasting ].Unclear hazy medium yellow orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is grapefruit, citrus, barnyard, rubber. Flavor is heavy acidic, vinegar and sour with a long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. We have this after having Russian River Temptation, Lost Abbey Isabelle Proximus and Girardin Gueuze Black Label, and I must say the Girardin beat the American breweries, they are all nice sour but they still have a long way to go to match the real thing ;o)) [20081230]

Graciously shared by mreusch, awesome, thanks. Color is a thick pale golden (cannot see through it). Has a thick bubbly head but it fades super quick, either way still looks good. (and as usual with LA, the pour gets very murky as you reach the bottom of the bottle). Aroma is tropical fruit, and fuzzy dryness (is this the Yellow Bus?). Its very fruit with a dry sweetness, I am guessing the Duck Duck Goze is taking over but just mainly funk with essence of sour skins. Taste is much nicer with a lot more vinegar-like sourness coming through, with a lot more gueze-like characteristics. It has a drying, very lemony feel. Again, its very drying, long tartness and a stingy mouthfeel that lasts into the finish. I was very impressed, which is hard to say for LA but they are able to turn out a winner every now and then (despite all the hype with every beer they make). Fortunately, not too much of the CdT coming through here.
750mL cork and wire in a Cantillon copita glass.

Pale hazy yellow. Rich and highly funk, sour and fruity. Yeasty. Big round pleasing sour with fruity funk up to the finish. Outstanding and the winner of the throwdown!

Bottle at Chris o New Year tasting 08/09. Cloudy yellow gold, lasting white head. Yeasty farty aroma. It’s a sour beer. It’s a tad harsh, but it’s ok. Lemon squashy. Had this along with Russian River Temptation, Lost Abbey Isabelle Proximus and Girardin Gueuze Black Label and the Girardin beat the other 3 into a cocked hat. I like the fact that American breweries are playing around with sours, but they still have a long way to go to match the real thing.
