Bottle from Beccles Farmers Market. Poured dark maroon brown with a nice size beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, liquorice, toffee. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness. Medium body, soft carbonation. Touch of toast to finish. Quite drinkable.

Cask at Smithfield Hotel, Manchester. A dark brown beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of malt - a bit of it roasted combined with light notes of butter. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt - both sweet and roasted combined with notes of chocolate and a touch of butter.

Cask (handpump) @ Smithfield Hotel, 37 Swan St, Manchester, Greater Manchester England M4 5JZ.Clear dark red brown color with a average, frothy - creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, dry coffee, dusty, burnt notes, berry - acidic noted, vanilla. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090123]
