This Scottish ale is deeply malty with subtle aromas of caramel and beech wood smoked malts. The flavor is rich and complex with malt character. There are hints of roasted malt, smoked malts, and some slight nutty character that persists through the finish. Overall the malty sweetness is balanced by the clean hop bitterness.

Mild soil nose. Clear tea, thick orange-ish head, good lace. Grainy, rather dry. Light body, soft carbonation. More like an Irish red.

Tap at brewery. Aroma of slightly sweet caramels and grass. Flavor is caramel, somewhat sweet but finishes abruptly. Bland.
