Cask at Smithfield Hotel, Manchester. A red-brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has notes of sweet malt as well as lighter notes of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malty combined with notes of roasted malt, bread, and caramel as well as lighter notes of nuts, leading to a dry, lightly roasted, and nutty finish. The mouthfeel is very smooth, though not very roasted for a porter.

Cask-conditioned at the Mermaid, St Albans 12/03/09. Near black with a decent tan head. Aroma of Coffee with a whiff of charred malt. Flavour had more roasted notes, with some slightly creamy sweetness and a pleasant bitter finish. Good stuff.
