The brewery is located in Mineral, which was given its name in 1902 due to the many mines in the area that supported its community. During its heyday, at least 15 gold mines operated within two miles of the town. Pyrite is still mined in the county today (via townofmineral.com). Contrary Creek runs along one side of the brewery property, and you can often find folks in the creek with their sluice boxes, hoping to catch a glint of gold.
