Computer Love is our new 4.8% altbier. Over five years have passed since we last released a tried-and-true rendition of this German style… so let’s freshen up. Originating from the Lower Rhine (and most commonly associated with the city of Düsseldorf), altbiers are deep copper ales, malt forward but most certainly quenching. Extended cold conditioning leads to an effortless smoothness. A firm bitterness presents itself, but hop character is well integrated. Altbiers rule, OK?

We brewed Computer Love entirely with regional grains from North Carolina’s esteemed Epiphany Craft Malt, relying on a mix of their pilsner, Vienna, Munich, aromatic, and chocolate malts. We hopped this high-thread-count wort with a little charge of Magnum and a subsequent kettle addition of Saphir. These two German hops lend soft notes of citrus, berry, and spice to the depth of malt personality.
