(On tap at Bryden’s, Toronto, Sept 15 2014) Pours an extremely murky medium orange with a small, very lacy white head. Aroma totally citra-type hops, grapefruit juice and pineapple prominent, also guava and passion fruit, no real farmhouse yeast aroma and just light malt sweetness. On the palate, citra again to the fore, grapefruit juice and rind, pineapple, orange? Fruit gets a bit muddled in the middle. A bit of funky yeast character from the middle through the finish, not heavily farmhouse though. Light citrus rind bitterness dries out the palate on the finish, but not as bitter as a typical IPA. Light-medium body with light effervescent carb. Very hop driven, even compared to the normal Shacklands farmhouse, with almost no room for yeast. Quite drinkable and fruity though, good beer from a smaller brewery.
