(On tap at Bar Hop, June 19 2014) Pours a pretty opaque deep pink with a small bubbly white head, no lace. Aroma has lots of tart cherries (or sour cherry pie filling) and a distinct doughy yeast and grain note that reminds me of pie shell. On the palate, bright and acidic with lots of tart cherries up front with a bit of sweetness and bready wheat in back, again notably like a pie shell flavor with just a bit of funk to go with the lactic quality. Sour-tart overall but not as bracing on the finish as some berliners, fairly low body and higher, effervescent carb. Really nice sour, super refreshing and quenching, needs a hot patio. Cannot get over its similarity to sour cherry pie in liquid form but love sour cherry pie, so all is well.
