Founded in 1805 by Wilhelm Sester, the brewery had been located in Ehrenfeld since 1917. In 1928 the business was expanded to include another site. Initially mainly "Kristall" and pils as well as the so-called Kölsch Alt were produced there. At the height of the brewery in the 1970s, an annual output of over 20,000 hl was achieved. In 1993 the Sester descendants sold the trademark and brewing rights to Brau und Brunnen AG (today part of the Radeberger Group).

(bottle) Deep golden body with a medium foamy white head. This one has the darkest Kölsch body I´ve ever seen and looks more like a Bohemian Pilsener than a Kölsch. Malty nose with a touch of fruitiness. Very malts accentuated taste complemented with a somewhat indeterminable fruity note and a dry and slightly hoppy finish.

Geruch nach WC-Stein, der sich im Antrunk in Teilen wiederfindet. Herb, muffig malzig, nicht hopfig. Wenig Getreide. Disharmonisch, zum Ende allerdings besser, betont malzig, trockenes wenig getreidiges Finish. Gut! /9/9/9/10/9

Clear golden colour. Slightly fruity ester aroma. A little bit of hop, not much though. Same deal with the malt. Very light Kolsch.

Lager color, small white head. Fresh, crisp nose. Malty, crisp but kind of thin. Long but mild bitter finish.

Deep golden coloured. Lively, rather fruity, not very bitter. Very quaffable but a bit one-dimensional.
