Founded in 1805 by Wilhelm Sester, the brewery had been located in Ehrenfeld since 1917. In 1928 the business was expanded to include another site. Initially mainly "Kristall" and pils as well as the so-called Kölsch Alt were produced there. At the height of the brewery in the 1970s, an annual output of over 20,000 hl was achieved. In 1993 the Sester descendants sold the trademark and brewing rights to Brau und Brunnen AG (today part of the Radeberger Group).

Clear godlen with tiny off white head. Sweet malty aroma. Sweet flavour with grainy and malty notes. Sweet finish.

Bottle, 4.8%. Clear shiny yellow colour. Small white head. The flavour is subtle, a little fruit. Low bitterness. Quite clean, but a little too fruity.

Bottle (from Koelschtrinker). Light honey malt aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Starts out nice with a slightly sweet malt flavor but then turns to a harsh metallic flavor. Metallic finish ruins this one.

Bottle. Pours a clear pale yellow color with a longlasting white head. Malty bready aroma with some weak hints of hops. Sweet malty bready flavor with some grassy hints. Sweet malty bready and grassy finish.

The bottle looks very simple. The beer is not really balanced. The end very metallically, not a ggod beer.

50 cL bottle. Pours clear pale yellow with a diminished white head. Fresh and mild hoppy aroma. Flavour is slight sweet malty and sugarish no bitterness as such. Classic thin and slight sharp hoppy. Good kölsch.

Bottled. A golden beer with a thick off-white head. The aroma is sweet with light notes of malt and citrus. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of lemon and dusty hops. The body is thin. Not as clean as a Kölsch should be.

Bottled (tnx DerDoppelbock). Golden colour with grassyness in nose, along with papery hints. Flavour is papery, quite strongly hopped, but with a smoother finish, which almost becomes a bit fruitish. Good session beer, as it is quite smooth.

Bottle: Golden coloured, thin white foamy layer; grainy and cardboardy nose, a bit sourish with a tinge of fruitiness (oranges); mild grainy taste in the beginning; very shy bitter flavour; fizzy mouthfeel; mild, delicate grainy finish with an illusion of a tart bitterness. Quite right........!
