Founded in 1805 by Wilhelm Sester, the brewery had been located in Ehrenfeld since 1917. In 1928 the business was expanded to include another site. Initially mainly "Kristall" and pils as well as the so-called Kölsch Alt were produced there. At the height of the brewery in the 1970s, an annual output of over 20,000 hl was achieved. In 1993 the Sester descendants sold the trademark and brewing rights to Brau und Brunnen AG (today part of the Radeberger Group).

Bottle @ Cologne. Pours clear yellow with a frothy white head. Dusty and grainy nose and flavor. Hayish, soft but very rough. A bit thin mouthfeel. Short end.

Bottle. Golden, white head. Fresh grassy nose, hint of orangepeel. Light body, apple and citrus fruityness, dusty grains, good grassy and herbal hop wallop - a bit sticky resiny in the aftertaste. Falls flat after half a bottle.

Bottle. It’s a sparkling, clear golden beer with a small, dense, white head. The aroma is grainy with a nice ruityness, some resiny notes in the back. It’s dry, nicely carbonated and medium bodied, with flavors of grains and fruits. A pleasant bitterness too, and that lasts for a while. A refreshing and quenching beer. 100106
