Said to be hoppier than a hopping mad hopi, our rather good Doctor Okell's takes the 200 year old tradition of the strong India Pale Ale to its ultimate, thanks to one of Dr Mike's finest brewing moments...
Doctor Okell's is an extremely light coloured beer with a surprising full bodied taste. The sweetness is offset by a very strong hopping rate. That gives the finished beer an over all roundness with very spicy lemony notes and a fine dry finish to counteract the initial sweetness.
Ingredients: All pale ale malt, hops, 1st Fuggles and First Gold, 2nd Hallertau and Saaz, 3rd Cascade and Styrian Goldings.

Appearance: Clear golden color with a white head. Ok lacing.
Aroma: Mild fruity, citric hoppy and mild malty.
Palate: Medium body. Moderate sweet and a moderate bitterness. Soft carbonation.
Taste: Malty citric hoppy and a mild fruity.
Overall impression: Fresh British bitter.

Light golden, clear, dense white head with some lacing
Aroma - citrus hops, fruity malts, some grapefruit, nice soft pale malts, touch of orange
Taste of citrus hops, soft grapefruit, touch of orange, nice soft citrus, background of fairly sweet light fruity malts
Palate - Light body, little oily. Palate - fairly sweet malts with some fairly bitter dryish hops. Finish a bit dry for a soft sweet grapefruity linger
Overall - Decent beer

Moving my old rating from the cask version of this beer, guessing it has been split since after my original rating.Original rating from: thursday, november 01, 200750 cl bottle at Pub Vildanden, LundShady pale golden color, big fluffy white head. Fruity hoppy scent. Herbal and slightly fruity taste. Medium mouthfeel, fruity aftertaste. Low bitterness. But why call this an IPA? Low bitterness, low alcohol, low on the hops. Still good though.

Cask at The Royal Blenheim, Oxford 24-08-09 Pours gold in colour but throwing a slight haze, white head. Touch metallicy on the nose, in fact not a great aroma. Tastewise not really my thing, bit tangy and fruity, but I get the slight tinny quality that came through on the nose, not much in way of hops or bitterness, think that I was the only one around the table who was totally underwhelmed by this. A4 A3 F5 P2 Ov9 2.3

Half pint, hand pulled at Tomas Rigbys in Liverpool. Almost clear golden. Massive laceworks gradually disappearing. Floral-fruity to the nose. Fresh fruity taste with peaches added a spicy touch. Satisfying bitter ending. Easy to drink (04.05.2009).

Cask (handpump) @ Charlie’s Bar, Pilestræde 33, Copenhagen, Denmark.Light light unclear medium yellow orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, moderate to light heavy hoppy, flowers, grass, grapefruit, citrus - lemon, soap notes. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20081122]

Gravity at The Wharf, Aalborg
Hazy golden color; sparse bubbles. The aroma is lightly fruity. The body is incredibly light, like a 3.5% ABV, with light toffee flavor and decent hopping, giving both a delicate flowery and fruity touch, light citrus touch too. The final is pleasant and long, the bitterness reminds bitter oranges. It’s a kind of delicate Ale, pleasant and refreshing.

From cask at Charlies. Pours hazy yellow with a small white head. Light citrus fruity hops aroma. Sweet fruity hops flavoured. Mild sweetend and quickly going into a more dry and bitter flavour. Lingering fruity hops flavoured into a dry and spiced finish. Smooth, crisp and easy.

Cask (Pullman Bar, Helsinki) - Golden/amber in colour with a slight haze and a small head. Fresh and hoppy aroma with grapefruit and peach. Slightly watery and thin taste at first but it has a pleasant bitterness thanks to the hops. The grapefruit notes appear again giving it a subtle twang.
