A mouth-watering cask conditioned ale based on a 200 year old traditional Welsh recipe, so if you think it's a bit old-fashioned- you are correct.
The taste of this best bitter is due to the subtle addition of crystal and chocolate malts to the base Maris Otter pale ale malt. The initial well balanced taste gives way to a delicate smoked finish.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Appearance - deep amber to red with a decent head. Nose - toffee and dried fruit. Taste - toffee, brown sugar and dates. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long elegant finish. Overall - lovely ale. Elements of Old Ale in this one.

Bitter o barwie ciemno herbacianej i praktycznie bez piany, no moze na grubosc malego palca kobiety. W smaku coz goryczka, troche palonego karmelu, i caly czas goryczka. Gozki Bitter ale o jednostajnej konstrukcji.

A clear chestnut brown colour with a small off white head that quickly disappeared. A caramel malt aroma with hint of banana; a similar taste sweet caramel followed by an estery ash finish. Not keen.

500ml bottle into glass. Sweet malt nose. Dark amber beer with small white head. A little carbonation. Good solid body, nice dark malt taste. Finish is short, more malt & a little bitterness. Nice, moreish.

Cask @ The Picture House JDW, Colwyn Bay [260115]
Caramel brown, clear, dense thin off white head, good lacing
Aroma of caramel brown malts, soft toasted malts, no twiggy hops, soft toffee, nice soft malts, no hops
Taste of caramel malts, nice malts, soft toffee, soft toasted malts, soft bit nutty malts, lots of malts but not over sweet, hops are doing there job getting the bittersweet balance right without being noticed
Palate - Medium body, good mouthfeel, soft sweet. Finish as main flavour, nice soft toffee malt linger.
Overall - Liked this, nice malts, quaffable stuff, good condition helps here, reminds me of some Scottish malty beers, easy going no think drink - really liked this a lot and a highlight on my trip

Bottle from Thresher, Ruthin. Clear brown ale, no head. Has excellent dark and sweet winter malts with a chocolate domination in this respect.

500ml bottle from Real Ale Warehouse. Pours clear chestnut brown, no head. Aromas of dark sugar, nuts, mixed spice. Taste is red-fruit sweet, light roast, more nuttiness. Light body, a tad thin texture. OK.
