Aarhus Bryghus Julebryg at 6% is the mild of our two Christmas seasonals. It is a Danish Christmas tradition to stick cloves in an orange and hang it from a silk ribbon. Imagine the orange hanging over the fermentation vessel and the ribbon bursting, and you get Julebryg. The acidity of the orange juice freshens up the beer. The cloves are just as discreet as they are in all the traditional Danish cold luncheon dishes, where it seems cloves are in almost every dish.

The beer thus is extremely suitable as an accompaniment to the Danish Christmas luncheon or for the unformal get-togethers that are so popular at Christmas time.

Bottle shared by Marko. Quite subtle spicing, pretty tasty beer with rich maltiness, drinkable despite this, dryish feeling. Not crazy, just a well made beer. Nice.

Many thanks to Beerhunter111 for sharing! The beer starts malty and smooth. Easy to drink with a nice caramel flavour in the background, very easy to drink with a dry roasted aftertaste. Not much sweetness there, the bitterness is low. Hints of dry roasted wood. Very nice and dry malty smooth stuff. In the aftertaste are hints of hazelnuts, roasted barley and nice earthy hops.

600 ml bottle, sampled at Den gamle by in Århus. Clear amber body with a small off-white head. Not very strong in aroma, malt, bread, some dry fruit and slightly spicy/fruity. Flavor is medium sweet malt, caramel, bread, light dry fruit, a hint of oranges and spices, low bitterness. Fine balanced body and short in aftertaste. Drinkable but rather boring, almost like just another pale ale with caramel and some spices type Christmas beer.
