Mono is an evolution of the ’single hop’ phenomenon. While Galaxy is the stated hop on the label, the true concept here is to display the headliner in it’s greatest form possible, and if you ask me every hop is better when paired or supported by others. So we added some accents of Centennial & Sterling to widen the frequency and crank up the volume of bright tangerine, grapefruit, and fresh grass.

Sample at CBC. A very clean brew, bitter, gooseberry hops. Nice modern and interesting lager, bit too bitter.

Draught @ CBC 2015
Pours yellowish with a smooth head. Aroma of juicy fruits, tropical notes, citrus, lemon and grapefruit. Taste is grainy, earthy and citrusy with loads of grass and lemon. Finish is smooth and grainy with some fruity and crisp citrusy notes. Okay.

12 ounce bottle into lager glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours lightly hazy pale straw color with a 1 finger dense and rocky white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of lemon, tangerine, passion fruit, pineapple, peach, light pine, floral, grass, cracker, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of bright citrus/tropical hops and moderate pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, pineapple, peach, pine, floral, grass, cracker, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange zest, pineapple, peach, pine, cracker, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and robustness of bright citrus/tropical/piney hops and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a crisp malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, and sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish as expected of 5.2%. Overall this is an excellent hoppy pale lager. All around great complexity and robustness of bright citrus/tropical/piney hops and light-moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Pours hazy golden, medium white head with nice retention and lacing. Aroma of Galaxy, dank and tropical, slightly mysterious and fruity, wet leaves, some green onion. Flavor follows, light plus sweet and light plus bitter, no real pilsner action here; this is all about the hops. Perhaps a bit grainier than an APA, but otherwise not much different. A fair bit of lingering bitterness, bordering on harsh. Medium body.
