33cl bottle, bbe 30.01.29. Pitch black, lasting brown head. Dark chocolate, sweet licorice, molasses in aroma. Flavor has similar things going on, roasted malt, licorice, hops, chocolate. Long finish with salty licorice and ashy notes. Nice surprise. Full bodied. As it warms up, some black currant notes as well in the finish.

Bottle at Chriso going Dutch tasting, 03/07/14. Light black with a good sized tan covering that retains. Nose is light roast, cocoa powder, toffee, light cardboard, dark malts. Taste comprises roast malt, booze streak, mineral notes, chocolate, spice, dark toffee. Medium + body, fine carbonation, drying close with a touch of alcohol. Mediocore for the style, lacks depth for the ABV, easy drinking though.

Craig on Heat Tasting at ChrisO’s. Opaque black - brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is softish and airy. Airy and mellow dark malts. Light touch of tangy dark chocolate. Sherry and a little dark fruits. Smooth finish. All right!

Bottle from Das Meisterstück, Berlin. Pours cloudy very dark brown with airy but stable tan head. Clear aroma of roasted malt, with touches of caramel and coffee. Bitter flavour of roasted malt and liquorice, with pronounced notes of coffee and sweetish touches of caramel. Roasty aftertaste with sweetish notes. Well-balanced and nice.

33cl bottle pours with a deep dark mahogany colored body that supports a creamy tan head of foam. The modest aroma offers up a good deal of chocolate candy bar notes as well as dark roasted malts. It has a slight dark chocolate milk aroma at times. The taste is smooth and creamy and starts with chocolate bar and then heads into dark roasted malts that have a burnt edge to it and then right back into pleasing chocolate bar nuanced by some modest sweet maltiness. Midway and into the finish a slight mineral note comes forward as well as a dash of black licorice. Wow, this is nice. I love the mix of sweetness, chocolate and dark roasted maltiness where it isn’t overbearing (which I like for a big bruising sipper) but it is like I can drink this all day under the right conditions.

Schnellrating, bring it on!
