Sample from 2015 batch at Denver Rare Beer Tasting VIII on 10/07/2016. Brown-black color with a medium thick tan head that recedes gradually to a film. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of bourbon, malt and vanilla. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, roast malt, vanilla and fudge. The finish is sweet with a bourbon and malt aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Bottle, thanks 100Resolutions! Pours black, medium tan head, decent lacing. Aroma is heavy on the bourbon, roast, anise, molasses. Flavor is medium sweet, somewhat sharply bitter, heavy roast, anise and molasses along with bourbon. Medium body overall. A bit unrefined. Lots of bold flavors but they are not really in harmony and tend to clash a bit in the final product.

2015 bottle courtesy of CatMan. Aroma is very rich with a lot of nice, dark chocolate notes. Some light roast notes with some caramel and toffee. Medium light bourbon notes with light oak. Hints of vanilla and almonds. Pours a thick, dark black with a small, thick, dark mocha head that recedes fairly quickly to the edges where it lingers. No lacing and moderately long legs. Flavor is moderately sweet with quite a bit of rich chocolate notes. Some light caramel, toffee and died fruit notes. Medium light roast. Medium light bourbon notes with a bit of oak. Light nuttiness with hints of vanilla. Some lingering sweetness with chocolate and bourbon. Medium light bitterness. Mouthfeel is full bodied and sticky with medium low carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty nice stout. Lots of rich chocolate notes with good bourbon and oak character. Roast is light with nice complimentary fruit notes. Mouthfeel might be the best part.
