Bottle from JP! Thanks man. Black color, a little bit of red, no head. Fantastic aroma. Loads of chocolate syrup. Barrel, like a decadent vanilla and bourbon dessert. Even bits of espresso1 mmmm, mounds chocolates, cocoa, maple syrup, really delicious.!!!!

Bourbon barrel aged imperial stout by this Wisconsin craft brewery and apparently one of their most reputed beers, tasted at BCFB ’18, thanks vincentvega72 for the tip. Loosely built, yellowish beige ring of a head, vanishing completely after a while, over a black beer with hazy mahogany edges. Intense and alluring bouquet, lots of chocolate liqueur, Tia Maria, toffee, whisky, ketjap, cappuccino, fig compote, toasted pecan nuts. Thick, intense onset, sweet with candi sugariness but also a hint of umami, soft carb, very thick, oily and syrupy body as one expects from a near-14% AVB stout, thoroughly hazelnutty, chocolatey and toffeeish, multi-layered maltiness, completely mouth-filling, with lovely vanilla-ish oak in the finish accentuated by bourbon warmth, unsurprisingly ending utterly boozy and heating – but in this case, as with other ‘superstrong’ stouts that are exceptionally well made, the thickness of the malts absorb much of this, so that the whole remains proportionally easy to drink. Intense, big, rich and profound stout, extraordinarily well executed: this beats many more famous legends in the BBA American style ‘impy’ field.

Sampled at Meridian Pint, pours an oily, opaque black with some grey head and medium legs. Nose is big, molasses, burnt barrel, whiskey, some big black tea, cakey. Flavor follows, cakey, chocolate, booze, woody, smokey, pencil lead, inky. Finishes smooth, lightly boozy, just off dry. Stout lovers stout.

Thanks Ryan for sharing the bottle! Poured into a snifter showing pitch black with light translucent rims and very sparse latte colored foam. The nose shows pronounced notes of bourbon and milk chocolate with light notes of raisins. The palate is oily and moderately carbonated. Pronounced flavours of bourbon and chocolate with a strong alcoholic bourbon spiciness. Lots of bourbon and chocolate on the finish.

Sample from 2015 batch at Denver Rare Beer Tasting VIII on 10/07/2016. Brown-black color with a medium thick tan head that recedes gradually to a film. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of bourbon, malt and vanilla. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, roast malt, vanilla and fudge. The finish is sweet with a bourbon and malt aftertaste. Good beer all around.
