Ever since the Viking era, the Christmas beer tradition has been strong in Norway. As stated in the 'Gulatingsloven' (a regional law text valid until 1274), every farmer was bound by the law to brew beer for Christmas and christen it according to the new faith, otherwise running the risk of losing his assets to the king and bishop. The Christmas beer was normally brewed from the best grain of the season and would be strong with a rich malt flavour. Dahls Christmas Brew is a modern version of the traditional Norwegian Christmas beer.
Dahls Christmas Brew is a Vienna type beer with an amber colour. The aroma is slightly fruity with notes of banana, freshly based bread and caramel. This beer is medium-bodied with a taste of toasted malt and sweet caramel.

Can, thx to KnutAlbert. Pours a clear, golden to copper body, with a decent, off-white head. Caramel-malty nose with some cooked vegetables, quite sweetish, and also some grainy notes. Doesn’t seem to be that good judging from my description, but actually, it isn’t too bad, even though giving it 5 on aroma is being kind. The same goes for the flavor, it’s a typical Norwegian low ABV Christmas beer, with caramel-sweetness, a moderate flavor of fruityness and hops, as well as some cooked vegetables. Medium fullness. The finish is caramel-sweet too, as well as some fruityness and bitterness. Well, what can I say? The beer has been away for some years, I don’t think there’s many Norwegians who were missing it. Smallish white head. Amber body. Sweet syrupy caramelly aroma with hoppy notes. Dryish watery caramelly taste with grassy notes. Boring and nondescript. (0.5l can from KnutAlbert.)
